ELCOME!
In my 41 years of practicing acupuncture, I’ve seen almost every condition and disease that can plague modern Americans. My team has helped to make my office a safe place for healing and pain relief. Whether your problem is physical or otherwise, we can help. We stock various herbal formulas for strengthening your immune system and to treat most viral conditions, including the common cold.
For those recovering from Covid 19, Chinese medicine is uniquely suited to healing the “long haul” symptoms. It takes both acupuncture and herbal medicine to help the body to heal itself, the internal organs and brain. Please feel free to call if you have any questions. We are here for you.
Warmest Regards,
Stephen Schachter, A.P., L.Ac.
Stephen Schachter, A.P., L.Ac. was among the first group of Americans to develop expertise in Chinese Medicine. His studies started in 1976 with Macrobiotics, which included Dietary therapy, Shiatsu massage and Qi Gong. He was board certified as an Acupuncture Physician in 1982 receiving Florida license number 72, and began his practice in North Carolina, moving it to Gainesville, FL in 1984.
Over the years, Stephen has sought out master practitioners to study with and further his skills. His original teacher was a 5th generation Korean master, Dr. Yun Won Suh, with whom he did a 3 year apprenticeship. In the late 1980's and early 1990's he studied with Dr. Miki Shima, a Japanese style master. Since 2001 he has been studying with Jeff Nagel, MA, L.Ac, one of the most accomplished Americans in the field. In the early 2000's, he studied Sound Healing with the Acutonics© innovator, Donna Carey. During the 1990's, Stephen passed on his skills to 8 apprentices who were able to sit and pass the National Acupuncture Board exam. (For other teachers, see Qi Gong and Tai Chi.
Stephen's acupuncture technique is a mixture of Taoist Balancing systems, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Tung's Style and Medical Qi Gong. He utilizes Acutonics sound healing as a stand alone treatment or integrated with acupuncture. His goal is to create healing and real internal change, along with as much immediate symptom relief as possible. Most treatments use few needles and are extremely gentle. Many patients feel better immediately, having less pain or other symptoms, or feeling some change in their overall physiology, mental or emotional state.
To promote acupuncture and natural healing, Stephen has spoken many times in the Gainesville area. He's done radio interviews, lectured to civic and health groups, and given demos in various settings. He produced and hosted a cable tv show called "Health Alternatives," doing 25 shows with local experts and doctors covering all aspects of alternative healing. At the University of Florida Medical School Stephen was an integral part of the team that lectured 3rd year medical students on complementary and alternative approaches. For over 5 years as part of the teaching, he gave a sample treatment to every medical student. Stephen has been on the faculty at the Florida School of Massage, and from 2001 - 2008 at the Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine.
In service to the profession, Stephen held positions with the Florida State Oriental Medical Association. After serving on the board of directors, he became vice-president. During this time he hosted 2 statewide conferences and brought in important teachers who positively impacted the profession in Florida.
The Florida Department of Health uses Stephen as an "expert witness" in cases involving Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
